The Retirement Playbook

A 1:1 Strategic Rite of Passage
with Stuart L. Morris

"For those standing at the ultimate career threshold: whether laying down the weight of a lifelong title or architecting the internal peace of a life lived well."

The Core Philosophy

This is not a "winding down"; it is a Second Spring. Most leaders spend thirty years building a "Life Well Lived": a performance for an audience. This intensive day is about architecting a "Life Lived Well": an internal alignment of purpose, presence, and peace.

We use the Hello, I Love You, Goodbye framework to ensure the transition is psychologically "sorted" and strategically sound.

The Shared Architecture: We recognise that a Life Lived Well is rarely a solo performance. Your spouse or partner is welcome and encouraged to join you for this intensive at no additional cost. This allows you to align your visions, renegotiate your "rules of engagement," and ensure that your Second Spring is a shared journey rather than two separate drifts.

The Eve of Change

The Eve of Change: You arrive at High Trenhouse the evening before. No agendas, no checklists. Just the Dales, a fire, and the serenity.

This is the "Separation" phase of the rite of passage: physically leaving the world of "Doing" to enter the sanctuary of "Being."

The Arc of the Day

08:30 | The Breakfast of Intention

  • The Soft Opening: Over a proper Yorkshire breakfast, we set the container. We move past the "Business Card" of your current role and begin to identify the human being underneath the title.
  • Goal: To establish "Identity Safety." Today, you don't have to be the Boss. You just have to be the Architect.

09:30 | Phase 1: GOODBYE: The Corporate Exit Audit

  • The Title Deconstruction: We look at who you are when you stop being "The CEO." What parts of that identity do we keep, and what do we "lay to rest" with proper ceremony?
  • The Harvest: Identifying the wisdom, social capital, and "patented" experiences you are taking with you. This is the "Master Ledger" of your career.
  • The "Unfinished Business" List: Addressing the "ghosts" in the boardroom so they don't follow you into your garden.

11:30 | Phase 2: I LOVE YOU: The Relationship & Vitality Audit

  • The Domestic Relaunch: Designing how you inhabit your home and marriage when the 9-to-5 structure vanishes. We map out how to avoid "Empty Nest" friction and "Spouse Underfoot" syndrome.
  • Co-Creation: Synchronising individual desires into a unified Relationship Charter.
  • The Vitality Protocol: A "Cybernetic" look at your health, energy, and cognitive load for the next twenty years. We treat your body like the primary asset it is.
  • The Joy Inventory: Excavating the passions that were sidelined during the "climb."

13:00 | The Reflective Lunch & Dales Walk

  • Nutritional Reset: A structured lunch followed by a reflective walk in the grounds. The "Lizard Brain" processes the morning's shifts while the body moves.

14:00 | Phase 3: HELLO: The Second Spring Strategy

  • The New Territory Map: Where will your "Gravitas" be deployed? We look at Non-exec roles, mentorship, or "Passion Projects" that require the same rigour as your business but offer more soul.
  • The Adventure Calendar: Designing experiences that offer achievement without burnout. This isn’t a Bucket List; it is “The Presence Portfolio”: a collection of moments where you commit to being fully "un-hidden" (Aletheia).
  • The 90-Day Sprint: Identifying the first three "congruent decisions" to be made the moment you "officially" retire.

The Second Spring Manual

You leave with a bespoke, high-end Physical Playbook. This is the "Strategic Asset" for your next chapter.
